Dr Amith Shetty

Clinical Director – System Sustainability and Performance, NSW Ministry of Health

Dr Amith Shetty is an Emergency physician, Clinical Director in the System Sustainability and Performance Division at NSW Ministry of Health, and Medical Chair of the NSW Emergency Care institute Research Committee. Dr Shetty is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Westmead Clinical School, University of Sydney, Adjunct Fellow at Centre for Health Systems and Safety Research, Macquarie University and Honorary Research Fellow at the Westmead Institute for Medical Research.

Amith completed his doctorate in Sepsis screening which involved sepsis case medical reviews of around 2000 patients resulting in the development of an ED sepsis screening algorithm that’s being currently tested and implemented in NSW hospitals. He has led various first-time innovations in NSW Health including Pathology IoT device integration and cloud analytics project, real-time risk trigger monitoring in hospitals, and Virtual home care models. Amith is passionate about driving value in healthcare through the improved use of digital insights and technology.
